Is China's Island Building in the South China Sea Offensive?

Has the international law of the sea been violated by this enormous penis shaped island? Who knows? But one things is certain ...

... while male lawyers are sure to debate the size and shape of the thing, China's relentless construction of boastful islands in the South China Sea presents a large and real danger to peace in the southern hemisphere.

It is, in the words of one United Nations Secretary-General hopeful, 'just one more example of China's indelicate thrust southwards.'

Asked if it is more correctly charactisered as an expression of China's longstanding 'soft power' policy (subtle influence exerted through aid and development in developing countries) the hopeful answered:

'Are you mad? You fucking idiot. Look at it. No. Jesus Christ. I speak their fuckin' language and I'm telling you this is not soft power at work. FUCK! ... By the way, can I have that UN job now. I reckon I'm pretty well suited to it. You know, temperament-wise and everything.'
